The UNLV Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering student chapter of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) earned the 2nd place prize among the Student Technical Paper contest at the Annual Competition at the Univeristy of San Diego this past weekend.
The regional competition is one of the most competitive and complex divisions and includes institutions like UCSD, USD, NMU, New Mexico Tech, ASU, UA, and UNLV.
Senior student Bringham Joffs presented the paper for his group which in cludes fellow seniors Makram Abd El Qader and Don Twyman. Their presentation "Electric Car Conversion" is their Senior Design Project which will be presented on the UNLV campus this coming Friday.
Emma Regentova, Ph.D. and the IEEE faculty adviser is extremely proud of the winning accomplishments of the team. "Their presentation was simply brilliant," states Regentova.
The "Electric Car Conversion" prototype can be viewed during the Annual Senior Design Competiton, this Friday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. For more information about the competiton, engineering.unlv.edu
